The roaring twenties will be the focus of a special event at Wakefield Museum tonight (Wednesday).
The free All in a Flap event starts at 5pm until 7.30pm.
It has been inspired by three gorgeous flapper dresses from the museum’s collections, which will be on display for one night only, alongside amazing accessories from the time.
The social history curator will also be on hand to talk about the dresses and the museum’s collections.
Visitors can view some spectacular vintage inspired headpieces made by a local milliner, make a fascinator or get to grips with a bow tie. For the more active there will be an opportunity to take part in a Charleston Zumba taster, followed by a refreshing 1920s style mocktail at Create Café.
Classic novels from the era, such as the Great Gatsby, will be available to borrow, or visitors can browse a selection of art deco and millinery books from the special library book display.
Coun David Dagger, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for libraries, said: “This is set to be an evening full of 1920’s fun and laughter. I encourage everyone to head down to the museum and take a look at the collection and use the opportunity to join in with some of the activities on offer.”
