A ROYAL is set to visit the The Hepworth Wakefield, next week.

Her Royal Highness Sophie, Countess of Wessex, will meet local school children as well as city dignitaries on Tuesday, March 27.

And everyone is welcome to join in the celebrations from 3.30pm.

Afterwards the Countess, who is married to Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, will officially open the gallery and unveil a commemorative plaque.

Simon Wallis, director of The Hepworth Wakefield, said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming HRH Countess of Wessex and to officially celebrate and commemorate the opening of this world-class gallery in Yorkshire.”

More than 435,000 people have visited the gallery, which sits on the banks of the River Calder, since it opened last May.
