PARENTS will now be able to find out if their children are at risk from paedophiles or suspected sex offenders.

Police in the city have adopted the Child Sexual Offenders Disclosure Scheme - which is known as Sarah’s Law.

Sara Payne, who visited Wakefield in 2009, campaigned tirelessly for the scheme after her eight-year-old daughter Sarah Payne was murdered by convicted sex offender Roy Whiting.

It will enable anyone concerned to contact police and find out if a person who has contacd with children is a registered sex offender or likely to pose a risk to youngsters.
