Motorists face up to seven weeks of delays as work on a new £33m bypass on the east side of Wakefield continues.
Northern Gas Networks started works to divert a gas main on Doncaster Road and Oakenshaw Lane on Monday, July 27.
As part of the scheme, the bus lane on Doncaster Road will be closed throughout the project.
Warren Iveson, construction services area manager for Northern Gas Networks, said; “We’re working closely with Wakefield Council on this essential scheme which involves a gas main being diverted as part of work to create a new relief road on the eastern side of Wakefield.
“We’ve carefully planned these works to minimise the impact to members of the public. We’d like to thank customers in advance for their patience throughout these essential improvement works and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
