A QUIET lane is being used by people having sex in cars and for dealing drugs.

Police say the problems on Railway Terrace, in Outwood, have become so bad that they have increased patrols and made it a policing priority.

People living on the private cul-de-sac close to Outwood Railway Station also claim children are being flashed by older youths.

Miles Fozzard, 35, has lived on Railway Terrace since 2007 and said the area was known to have been advertised online as a place for swingers, prostitutes and their clients.

He said: “We’re tired of what appears to be peaceful area being used by folks, who have no business being there, to get their thrills – whether drugs, arson, vandalism or exposure at our expense.”

Problems have also been reported on Lingwell Gate Crescent.

Malcolm Tuner, 62, said: “A couple were having sex in a car right by the lampost in front of my house.

He added: “There are a lot of people that come with drink at about 9pm, they go through the ginnel and bang on the fences. It puts people off going out for a walk.”

Cars have also been stolen, vandalised and some have been burnt out by suspected joy riders.

Nicola Farrar, 26, said: “My boyfriend’s car was broken into Wednesday night, we don’t know whether it’s kids or what.”

The problems were raised at a Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting where a woman reported her daughter had been flashed.

Sgt Bob Prince of the North West neighbourhood police team (NPT) said: “We have been made aware that people are turning up and having sex in their cars.

“Since it has been brought to us we have done patrols but we’ve not caught anyone yet.”
