DETECTIVES allowed a jailed supergrass at the centre of a murder trial to visit a brothel, take drugs and have sex with a female police officer as a reward for giving them evidence.
The West Yorkshire Police force (WYP) detectives also tried to cover their tracks when they were investigated by officers from another force.
A Supreme Court ruling said high ranking officers from WYP conspired to pervert the course of justice and that their behaviour was “shocking and disgraceful.”
And yesterday the officers actions were referred to the police watchdog the Independent Police Commission (IPCC).
Deputy chief constable David Crompton said: “In light of the criticism levelled by the Supreme Court Judges, we feel it now appropriate to voluntarily refer this case to the independent police complaints commission.”
