The city’s retailers who “go that extra mile” have been shortlisted in this year’s Wakefield Retail Awards.
This year’s event celebrates the best businesses in the area who provide an excellent service for all of their customers.
There are 13 categories including online retailers and independents alongside those volunteers and employees who go out of their way to help shoppers.
The shortlist was compiled by a panel of judges including Wakefield Express Editor Mark Bradley, Andrew Choi from the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Darren Bailey from Architecture 1B.
Mr Bradley said: “Whilst businesses are recovering from difficult economic times, it was great to see that so many local retailers are going that extra mile to ensure that their service remains of a high standard.
“These awards are a great opportunity for us to shine a light on what is going well with the city’s retail offering.”
The awards are supported by the Ridings Shopping Centre, Wakefield City Centre Partnership and the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
Winners will be announced at a special ceremony, including a three-course meal and disco, at The Space, Waldorf Way on Saturday May 17.
This year the awards will be presented by BBC Look North’s Clare Frisby.
Tickets are priced at £36 per person. If you are interested in buying tickets, contact Natalie Mitchell on 01422 260201 or email email@example.com
