An eight-year-old girl on a mission to get new books for her primary school held a fun day to raise money and awareness. Amelia Malone and her family and friends put on a raffle, tombola and bake sale at Trinity Walk on Saturday to drum up cash to help replace Stanley St Peter’s reading collection.
She has gained support from organisations up and down the country including Tiny Tree Children’s Books, which sponsored the event and has written to publishers to ask for donations.
Marketing manager Anthony Barlow said: “Amelia’s dedication to books and to helping other children at her school is so inspiring. We heard about her quest and read her letter to publishers through an article online and I knew we had to get involved.
“Every child should have exposure to great books, from bright and colourful picture books to the classics we all know and love. We hope that Amelia’s Book Quest continues to inspire and will help to deliver the books her school and deserves.”
