INDIE rockers The Cribs are to play a special one-off home town gig next month.

The band will take to the stage at Theatre Royal Wakefield on Wednesday, May 16, as part of the Jack Daniel’s - JD Roots Tour.

In a statement released today (Thursday), the band said: “We haven’t played in Wakefield since 2007 as all the venues seem to have disappeared.

“We last played at a place called Escobar.

“There were loads of kids who couldn’t get tickets for the show, so the streets were lined with people watching through the windows.

“It will be great to finally play here again after five years.”

Wakefield West Riding Theatre Company had originally planned to perform their version of The Sound of Music every night that week, but have moved their Wednesday show to Monday, May 14, to make way for the band.
