THE city is getting set to vote for its next star as teenager Frances Wood sings live on national television this weekend.
Frances, 18, of Wrenthorpe has made it through to the live shows of BBC One’s The Voice and will be relying on the public vote to save her from elimination.
She will take on nine other singers live on Saturday night ahead of a results show on Sunday.
The Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts student remained tight-lipped about her song, but described it as “a big number”.
She said: “I have worked really hard to get this far and I want to try and enjoy it and keep going in this competition.
“I am excited and want to make Wakefield and Yorkshire proud.”
Parents Rob and Donna Wood and 14-year-old sister Alex will travel to London for the show. The BBC1 show starts at 7pm on Saturday and at 7.25pm on Sunday.
