A TRAIN conductor was head butted by a passenger who refused to buy a ticket.

The attack happened on the platform at Normanton railway station on Monday, September 3.

A man had been travelling on the 2.50pm service from Wakefield Kirkgate and refused to buy a ticket when he was challenged by the conductor.

The incident took place when the train stopped at Normanton.

PC Daniel Worthington of the British Transport Police (BTP) said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who was at the station at the time, and who witnessed the incident, as you may be able to assist our investigation.

“If you do have information which you believe can help, please contact us straight away.”

A 32-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail.
