SUSPECTED drug dealers were snared by police during an undercover operation in a Horbury park.
Officers from the North West neighbourhood police team (NPT) carried out the “sting” in Green Park on Saturday afternoon.
They had been tipped off by members of the community that drug dealing was taking place in the park - just yards from children’s playground.
After arresting two men from Dewsbury police seized a quantity of drugs and cash from a house and the suspects vehicle.
Insp Jo Mercer, of the NPT, said: “My team work tirelessly to rid our community of illegal drugs but we are heavily reliant on members of the public coming forward with information if they suspect drug activity within the community.
“This is an excellent example of the police acting on community intelligence with excellent results.
“Two males were arrested and drugs, cash and a vehicle were recovered.”
Both men were granted bail and the investigation is ongoing.
The news follows the same NPT shutting down a cannabis farm in Ossett last Tuesday.
Officers carried out a raid on a Dewsbury Road flat after they smelt the pungent crop while on patrol.
After searching the property they found plants growing in a shed and in the cellar.
A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of growing the class B drug.
Insp Mercer said: “This was an excellent example of my staff being out and about in their community uncovering offences.”
