Police are appealing for information following a wheelie bin fire in Featherstone on Sunday morning.

A row of 11 wheelie bins, propped up against houses on Vermer Street were set alight at around 4.15am.

Firefighters from Pontefract and Castleford attended the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Watch Commander Darren Wales, from Pontefract Fire Station, said he believed the fire was started deliberately.

He said: “There was a potential loss of life here because the bins were standing against the houses.”

But he added that no one was injured.

Police are investigating the fire and request anyone with information contacts them on 101 or emails am1@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
