All the people who were forced to leave their homes went to a nearby church as firefighters from South Kirkby, Pontefract, Wakefield and two engines from South Yorkshire tackled the blaze.

The fire broke out just after 9pm on Tuesday.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said officers had to evacuate 60 homes around the site of the fire.

He also said a 15-year-old from the area was arrested in connection with the incident and remained in custody.

Fire crews remained at the scene damping down this morning (Wednesday).
