VIDEO: Age simulation suit used to train hospital staff

An age simulation suit is being used at hospitals across the district to help staff understand the effects different ailments can have on elderly people.
Health bosses at Pinderfields Hospital have a new suit which gives people the chance to experience how it feels to be elderly, particularly if they have had a stroke and are visually impaired. The suit consists of various bits of kit that simulate visual impairment, high-frequency hearing loss, reduced mobility, coordination and strength.

The suit, which simulates arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, visual impairment and deafness, is being used at Pontefract, Pinderfields and Dewsbury hospitals.

Our reporter Sam Cooper went along to try the suit for himself.
