The family of Owen Wightman, who was killed by a speeding driver, are leading a charity’s road safety campaign.

Six-year-old Owen died on June 18, 2011, after being hit by a car as he crossed the road near his home in Kettlethorpe.

His mother Joanne is now a volunteer for road safety charity Brake and helped launched it’s Beep Beep Day at Sharlston Children’s Centre on Tuesday.

She was joined by Owen’s younger brother Thomas, three, as she spoke about getting children to be aware of the dangers at an early age,
