Teenage singer Gemma James has made it through to the Open Mic UK live shows.

Gemma, 17, of Denby Dale Road, Wakefield, will perform during the competition at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday, September 29.

And she will rely on the audience’s vote to get her through to the next round. The final will be held at the O2 Arena in London.

The Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts student regularly tours pubs and clubs across the city and performed at the Christmas lights switch on last year.

She has already become a hit on You Tube, with her version of Paloma Faith’s Picking Up the Pieces getting nearly 62,000 views.
