Up to 100 jobs are being created by a city based nursing and home care company.

Prestige Nursing and Care, based on Northgate, said it is expanding to meet rising demand for its services.

The company is recruiting care staff to look after elderly and disabled people and patients with dementia, terminal illness, brain and spinal injuries.

It is also recruiting nurses to work in hospitals, respite centres, learning disability units and community projects.

Managing director Mike Dooley said: “With a national drive by the government to keep people in their homes for as long as possible we are seeing an increased demand for our services, so we now need to recruit the staff to allow us to meet this demand.”

Prestige Nursing and Care, which was launched in 2009, currently employs 92 staff, providing 1,200 hours of care each week.
