A BARBECUE and royal parade will take place on the city’s precinct to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee.
The Territorial Army will provide a barbecue lunch for up to 1,000 people at the event on Sunday, June 3.
And children have been invited to dress as kings and queens for a parade from Wakefield Cathedral to the town hall and back again.
They will be joined by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Dr Ingrid Roscoe and her deputies, and the new Mayor of Wakefield Coun Elaine Blezard.
Entertainment will be provided by Crofton Silver Band, local musician Mick Iredale, the Rapide Brothers and dance duo Backstep Boogie.
Tickets, costing £5 for adults and £3 for children aged 12 and under, are available now.
