A MAN has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his five-year-old son.
Pazeer Ahmed denied killing Haroon Bhatti but pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Leeds Crown Court today.
Haroon was found dead in his bed at the home he shared with his father on Aberford Road on January 23.
Ahmed, 35, of Aberford Road, is accused of inflicting a catalogue of injuries on Haroon in the two months before he died.
Prosecutor Julian Goose QC said in the hours leading up to his death, severe force was used to strike him to the head, most probably by banging his head against the bathroom wall.
The court heard evidence from consultants and nurses at Pinderfields Hospital who treated Haroon.
Ahmed told them he put his son to bed in the morning because he complained of being unwell.
Two hours later he found him unconscious and called 999.
Paramedics arrived but were unable to revive him and his death was later confirmed at Pinderfields Hospital.
In a written statement to the court paramedic Janine Lindsay said she believed Haroon had been dead for some time.
The trial continues.
