A GANG of wheel trim thieves are believed to have committed 26 crimes in 10 days.

Detectives say the thefts took place at night time in Crofton, Carr Gate and Kirkthorpe between January 27 and February 6 so far.

Det Insp Lester Lee, of Wakefield CID, said: “These thefts are all taking place overnight and only within a specific area each night, so we believe the thefts are being committed by the same suspects.

“Good advice for people with removable wheel trims on their cars is to ensure that the trims are marked with your car’s registration details and a code that only you can identify. This will both make the items less simple to sell and easier for us to identify if they are recovered. Such marking should be made to the back of the trim in a marker pen or UV property marker.”

Anyone with information should contact Wakefield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
