Wakefield take-away torched by arsonists

A TAKE away was torched by arsonists as two people slept in the flat above the shop during the early hour of this morning.

Police are investigating the attack on Desi Grilled, on Doncaster Road, as “arson with attempt to endanger life”.

Fire crews from Wakefield Station were called to the curry and kebab shop just after 1am.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said people were living above the shop but escaped unharmed.

A police spokeswoman said: “We are looking at a crime of arson with attempt to endanger life.”
