Wakefield Trinity Wildcats player Andy Raleigh will celebrate his long career with a busy few months of fundraising.
The prop has been awarded a three-month testimonial for his services to rugby league during the past 12 years.
And to kick-start celebrations he and his Wildcats team-mates will take on his former club Huddersfield Giants.
The friendly will take place at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium at 3pm on Sunday, January 26.
The teams will wear special shirts, which have been sponsored by Benfield Toyota, based on Silkwood Business Park. Players will then sign and auction them off after the game to support the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust.
Mr Raleigh, 32, has been an ambassador for the charity for eight years and also raised money through a calendar.
He said: “It is a great charity and I am proud to be able to help.
“I’m looking forward to the game and I have plenty of other events planned as part of my testimonial. I feel fortunate to have been paid to do something I love for so long, especially as I play in one of the toughest positions.”
Mr Raleigh spent six seasons with his hometown club Huddersfield before joining Wakefield three years ago.
Tickets and directors’ boxes are now available by calling 01484 540849 or email email@example.com
Other events will take place between April and June.
