Letter - Parking charges ‘not a revenue-generating exercise’ says council

Following the article last week I would like to reassure people that our plan to make a nominal charge for parking permits is not a revenue generating exercise.

There is no doubt that some residential areas will benefit significantly from a Controlled Parking Zone.

By charging for the new schemes it will enable us to ensure that more patrollers are available to help improve how we enforce the permits, as well as covering the admin costs and signage.

If there is any excess funding it will be ploughed back into the service to help in much needed areas like road repairs.
