The Friends of Stanley Playground would like to express sincere gratitude to Wakefield Council, Morrison Utility Services and the people of Stanley for helping us to make our recent Third Scarecrow Festival such a success.
Not only did the Wakefield Council help fund the event through a generous Neighbourhood Improvement Fund grant, they also went above and beyond the call of duty when, at the last minute, we discovered a problem with one of the licenses.
Particular thanks to Stephanie Dodson, Danny Goodison and Tim Johnson for their kindness, support and determination in helping us sort things out in order that the event could take place.
Special thanks to Jason Young and his team from Morrison Utility Services on behalf of Yorkshire Water for their Herculean efforts in clearing the lake that had formed at the entrance to the playground following a burst water pipe the day before the festival. Again, without their help we couldn’t have gone ahead with the festivities.
The final thanks must go to the wonderful people of Stanley. Their creativity and camaraderie never fails to inspire us.
We feel extremely fortunate to be part of such a fantastic community. To see more images of this year’s Scarecrows please visit the Friends of Stanley Playground Facebook page.
