Letter - Who is the real superpower?

Evidently, the continent of Europe with which we are now inextricably and greatly to our own nation’s detriment embroiled, finds itself at the mercy of a former global superpower harbouring delusions of its own former greatness and still armed to the teeth making and carrying threats against another sovereign nation state.

The leader of this shrunken former superpower calls for increased military spending at a time of widespread economic hardship and greater military intervention abroad.

The former superpower has a track record of destabilising and supporting the separatist insurgents in a number of other countries.

Standing virtually alone against this belligerent and bullying rogue state and its allies is the sovereign and democratically constituted nation of Russia.
