IT'S a case of bringing the indoors outdoors at a green space in Normanton, thanks to the installation of some new garden furniture.
Based alongside Normanton Library on Market Street, the new Breathing Spaces garden now provides a place for people to relax, as well as being a space to grow fresh produce which are used in the community cafe.

Jo Jones, customer service supervisor, said: “The community garden now has its new seating with a picnic table and chairs, circular seating around a tree and a shed. The seating also has room for people in wheelchairs.

“There’s also a plant bedding area where we are growing flowers and fresh produce. The cafe’s been open almost three months now and much of the produce used is grown in the garden, along with fresh herbs.”

Cafe Frobisher is mostly run by members from Day Opportunities, a group for adults with learning disabilities based at the library, and is going from strength to strength.

Mrs Jones said: “The cafe is doing quite well and it’s important because it’s a training programme for adults with learning difficulties. So this not only helps build up their skills, but also their confidence and they are loving it.”

A grand opening is planned for later this month and if anyone is interested in volunteering to help with events and the upkeep of the garden, contact 01924 302525.
