A DEDICATED school governor who helped staff and children at Ossett's Towngate J&I school for more than 25 years has retired.
Bill Ossitt, 60, stood down as chairman of governors at the end of this school year after a tenure in which he saw many changes to school life. Mr Ossitt was also a governor at Ossett School, and was involved in decisions involving budgets and staffing.

Pupils said goodbye to him at a leavers’ ceremony at the school on Whitley Spring Road, Ossett, before staff presented him with gifts at a local restaurant.

Mr Ossitt, of Daleside, Thornhill Edge said he was sad to leave the school but was looking forward to having some more time to himself.
