SPORTY pupils helped raise money for new play equipment to improve their break times.
As part of a school activity week, the children at South Ossett Infants School took part in a ‘fit kids’ project last week.
They collected sponsorship and took part in a range of fitness exercises to raise money for a trim trail – a new adventure play area to be installed at the school.
Equipment and expert coaches from Total Sporting Solutions, of Barnsley, which helps organise a popular after-school club for the children, were also on hand.
The project was organised by the school council, an elected body of pupils which puts forward ideas to improve pupils’ learning at the Vicar Lane school.
Headteacher Susan Williams said: “The trim trail is at an early stage and we are fundraising for it. It will feature things like slides and rope bridges and it should be a wonderful addition to the school.
“The children have really enjoyed the project and the school council has given feedback in meetings and assemblies. The activity week has involved many creative activities, including gardening.”
