RAIN clouds and showers did not dampen spirits at the eighth annual Crofton Carnival.
More than 400 people grabbed their raincoats and umbrellas and headed to the village on Saturday to make the event one of the best in years.

The punch and judy show and Crofton Silver Band were just a few of the entertainers who set up inside the community centre to avoid the bad weather.

Carnival organiser Chris Neale said: "Unfortunately for health and safety reasons we had to make a decision to cancel every dance group because of the wet grass.

"I'd like to give my personal thanks to everyone who came and braved the wet weather. Once again the carnival was very well supported by both villagers and visitors alike."

The lucky programme number was 0086 and people have until July 30 to claim their prize by visiting www.croftoncarnival.ik.com or by calling Mr Neale on 07504924276
