Celebrations took place across the city during the May Day bank holiday weekend.
On Saturday scores turned out for the Rothwell May Day event, which marked the town's 600th anniversary celebrations.
On the same day the summer sunshine enticed hundreds onto the streets of Gawthorpe for the annual maypole celebrations, which included a procession of decorated floats and maypole dancing.
On Monday the Thornes Park May Day Gala, organised for the first time by Wakefield Hospice, was a roaring success, with various displays and activities entertaining the crowds.
For a full round-up of all three events see this week's edition of the Wakefield Express.
