THE spotlight will be on Wakefield College students when they take to the stage for a dance, music and drama spectacular.
Run in association with the Theatre Royal Wakefield, the college's Festival of Dance, Music and Theatre will kick off on Wednesday June 4.

Students from a wide variety of courses will take part in more than 10 performances at the Theatre Royal Wakefield and the college's Thornes Park campus.

There will be something to suit every taste with performances like The Twelfth Station, which tells the tale of a wish upon a star that becomes a voyage of discovery when a man wonders through the glass of a telescope and finds himself on the path to his destiny.

And Murder in the Park, which will take place in the grounds of Thornes Park, where the audience will be invited to help solve the mystery.

Programme area manager, Tina Shuker said: "This year's festival promises to be another successful event. We have a mixture of original dance performances, theatre classics, as well as original work based on different genres and a two day outdoor music festival.

"It is an excellent platform to showcase the talent and skills of the students and is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the students and staff involved, who have helped put this year's event together."

For the first time visitors will be able to buy a festival pass which will give them access to all of the shows. It costs £20 for adults and £15 for concessions and is available from the box office at Wakefield Theatre Royal.

Tickets can also be bought for individual shows.

To download a brochure for the event visit the college website at www.wakefield.ac.uk
