WILDCATS head coach John Kear is looking for a performance to match the occasion when his side take on Castleford Tigers at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
The local rivals go head-to-head in the Millennium Magic clash in Cardiff with the Wildcats looking to win their fifth successive game - for the first time since 2004 - and break into the top-six of Super League XIII.

But Kear is guarding against complacency. He said: "It is always a tough game against Castleford and they raise their game for the big occasions so we are preparing for the Tigers at their best.

"We are in good form and we want to maintain our momentum while keeping our feet on the ground. The Millennium Stadium is fantastic to play in and we are hoping to produce a performance that will match the setting."

And Kear hopes that victory will erase the memories of last year's appearance in Cardiff when the Cats lost 36-12 to Huddersfield. He said: "We got it wrong last year. I think our younger players were overawed by the occasion but we have worked on that."

The Wildcats boss has also learned lessons from last week's 24-20 victory over Harlequins. He said: "Our first half was atrocious but we have identified the reasons for that and rectified them."

Kear is set to name an unchanged side from the one that beat the 'Quins, with one exception. Ricky Bibey will miss the game after he was handed a two-match ban and fined £300 by the RFL's disciplinary panel who found the prop guilty of striking Harlequins hooker Chad Randall with his forearm.

Kear said: "I thought it was a very harsh decision and it will be a blow to be without Ricky but it is more adversity for us and we have to get on with it."

More on Wildcats' preparation for Saturday's Millennium Magic match and the forthcoming Challenge Cup tie at Barrow in Friday's Wakefield Express.
