SUPER League top-six hopefuls Wakefield Wildcats have effectively been given a 'bye' in the fifth round of the 2008 Carnegie Challenge Cup.
Wildcats have been drawn at National League outfit Barrow Raiders following victory over National 1 title-chasers Salford City Reds on Sunday.

Ties will be played on the weekend of May 10 and 11.

Trinity fans with long memories will know that the last time Wakefield got to Wembley - in 1979 - the Belle Vue club defeated Barrow along the way.

There are four all-Super League clashes in the fifth round, meaning coach John Kear's plans for a Wembley final are still very much on the agenda.

Champions St Helens have been drawn at home to Warrington Wolves, while last season's beaten finalists Catalans Dragons have been drawn away to Bradford Bulls.

Full draw: Hull KR v Huddersfield Giants, Barrow Raiders v Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Dewsbury Rams v Oldham, Bradford Bulls v Catalans Dragons, Wigan Warriors v Whitehaven, Widnes Vikings v Hull FC, Harlequins v Leeds Rhinos, St Helens v Warrington.

This is the worst piece of crappy lazy journalism I've ever read. How you can state that WTW have been given a bye before the game has even taken place is beyond belief.
Lets see if you print a retraction if we make you eat your words

As a Wakefield Trinity supporter I wholeheartedly agree with the comments from Barrow. The article shows a complet lack of respect for a professional Rugby League team.
Trinity should win this game, but thanks to this article the Barrow coach will not have too many problems motivating his team.

As any RL fan will tell you games in Cumbria are generally never very easy.

The very least you can do is print an apology to Barrow RLFC, it's playesr and supporters.

Trinity must start as favourites; but to describe the tie as a "bye" is in poorer taste than one of our chaiman's dodgy leather jackets.

This is journalism of the lowest order. We are looking forward to a great game of Rugby League with Trinity starting as favourites but who knows with the Challenge Cup.
You dismiss it as a bye showing no respect for the traditions of two proud clubs.
My only consolation is that true fans of wakefield Trinity are equally sickened by this lack of respect.

Agree with Netherton Wildcat. Print an apology.

This is very very poor journalism, I presume it has been written by somebody who knows very little about rugby league and sees super duper league as the be all and end all of the game. Shame on you.
Good to read sensible comments from Wakefield fans and I anticipate a good following from Yorkshire and hopefully a bumper crowd at Craven Park for a proper cup tie.
'Wakefield Express' please send a reporter with half a brain.
