WAKEFIELD Wildcats came within a whisker of bringing a result home from France as they fell to a 28-20 defeat to Catalans Dragons on Easter Monday.
John Kear's depleted troops, missing Ryan Atkins and Sam Obst from the derby victory over Castleford Tigers, were trailing 16-0 in Perpignan at the break before staging a fine second-half comeback which brought them to within two points of their hosts.

David Ferriol, Cyril Stacul, Dane Carlaw and Clint Greenshields bagged the tries for Catalans while Ricky Bibey, Richard Moore, Matt Blaymire and Scott Grix tries gave Wakefield late hope before Alex Chan's late try and a Thomas Bosc goal made it three wins in three for the French side.

Wildcats: Blaymire, Gleeson, Martin, Demetriou, Murphy, Rooney, Brough, Watene, Golden, Wilkes, Moore, MacGillivray, Ferguson.
Replacements: Bibey, Henderson, Grix, Sculthorpe.

Catalans Dragons: Greenshields, Stacul, Wilson, Duport, Pelo, Mogg, Bosc, Ferriol, Gorrell, Chan, Raguin, Croker, Mounis.
Replacements: Carlaw, Fakir, Casty, Touxagas.
