WAKEFIELD Wildcats are set to announce the signing of Gold Coast Titans winger Matt Petersen on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The 28-year-old was linked with a move to Belle Vue in the close season and has been granted an immediate release from his contract with the NRL club in order to sign for the 'Cats.
Wakefield picked up their fifth win on the bounce against Castleford Tigers on Saturday despite their injury problems, but head coach John Kear has acted to further bolster his squad.
Titans managing director Michael Searle insisted the Titans didn't want to stand in Petersen's way after Wakefield made the player an "outstanding" offer to play in Super League.
The American international was expected to put pen-to-paper with the club in the close season before the move collapsed.
Petersen told Express Sport of his potential move last November: "It is something that I want to do and I don't want to miss the opportunity to join Wakefield.
"I am talking to the club about a move and although I have one year left on my contract at the Titans, I hope that we can come to an arrangement about that."
And it now looks like Petersen will complete his move to Belle Vue at the second time of asking.
