WILDCATS' mascot Daddy Cool warmed up for the Millennium Magic Mascot Games this weekend by being confirmed as the fastest professional mascot in the country.
Daddy competed in the 2008 Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Race Course on Sunday and came out on top of the professional mascots that competed in the 95-strong field.

H'Angus the Monkey from Hartlepool FC, Freddy Cougar of Keighley Cougars, Ronnie the Rhino from Leeds Rhinos, Carnegie Challenger and Lucas the Kop Kat from Leeds United were amongst the professional competitors in the race, which was won overall by Megumi Noodle Box from Wokon Noodle Bar in Leeds.

Daddy Cool received £50 for winning the race, which has been put into the Wildcats Community Trust with all other monies raised by all the mascots going to the Sue Ryder Care charity.

Community Manager Davide Longo said: "Daddy Cool was excellent and really did the Wildcats proud.

"We can't wait to see him in action on Saturday at the Millennium Magic games in Cardiff when hopefully he can put on another big show and come out on top of the other Super League mascots."

Daddy will be one of 14 mascots competing in the inaugral Mascot Games between each of the six Super League fixtures played on both Saturday and Sunday in Cardiff.

And the games will be part of a brand-new entertainment package for this year's event.

Phil Williams, the RFL's Marketing Manager, said: "After last year's event fans said they wanted to see a better entertainment package in 2008.

"The Mascot Games is just part of an exciting and action packed programme we're planning for both inside and outside the stadium.

"This means that supporters heading to Cardiff for the weekend will not only be glued to six games of top class rugby league action, they'll also be thoroughly entertained in between matches.

"Wakefield fans will also be able to cheer on their team on the Saturday and their mascot over both days."

Tickets to Millennium Magic are still available priced £18 per day for adults or £30 for a weekend pass. Concessions start from just £5 per day.
