NORMANTON strongman John Chocholski has won the British Unequipped Powerlifting Championships title on his third attempt.
Competitors are barred from using lifting aids such as power suits or knee wraps in the competition and Chocholski showed raw strength to finally claim the elusive title.
Competing in the over-50s 105kg class, the Normanton man weighed-in at 94kg and produced a squat of 195kg, a bench press of 130kg and a deadlift of 235kg, which would have been a commonwealth record had Chocholski weighed-in at 93kg.
Chocholski would like to thank coach Jonny Waterton for his support.
