Eastmoor Dragons are well represented in the BARLA Young Lions squad that will set off on a seven-day trip to Ukraine next Monday.

The squad, made up of players aged 18 and 19 who have represented their counties, includes young Dragons player Arnold Mawere and has three Eastmoor men on its coaching staff for the trip.

Dave Roberts is the Young Lions manager, while Robert Nicholson is his assistant and Andrew Scaife has travelled as physio.

Roberts and Scaife have previous tour experience after having been involved in tours with the same age group to South Africa and Serbia, while Nicholson will be undertaking his second tour after cutting his teeth on the Serbia trip.

Allan Coleman, of Leigh Miners Rangers, and Mark Robb, from Cumbrian side Kells, are the coaches and helped select Mawere thanks to his performances both for Dragons and for Yorkshire U19s, in the tri-series games against Lancashire and Cumbria.

Casey Johnson, of Westgate Wolves, and Troy Anderson, who plays for Shaw Cross Shawks but is part of the Wakefield College’s Rugby League Development Centre, are also included in the squad.

The trip will include matches against Ukraine and a Russian Rep side, and will see all players involved in two coaching sessions in Ukraine schools, led by the Lions coaching staff.
