OSSETT all-rounder Rich Pyrah claimed Yorkshire’s best-ever Twenty20 figures to help the White Rose county to victory in their penultimate group game against Durham on Sunday.
Pyrah put in a superb shift with the ball to snare Yorkshire’s first 4-for en-route to 5-16 from his four overs before smashing a six to give the hosts a thrilling victory at Scarborough.
The win keeps alive their slim hopes of progression to the quarter-final stages of the competition but Yorkshire will have to hope other results go their way before looking to beat Derbyshire in their final T20 game on Friday.
Pryah’s superb form with the ball saw Durham limited to 144-8 from their 20 overs.
Gary Ballance led the White Rose reply with 48 but, fittingly, it was Pyrah (17) who hit the winning runs with a huge six as he and Hemsworth’s David Wainwright saw Yorkshire over the line in emphatic style.
Former Ossett High School pupil Pyrah is in LV County Championship action with Yorkshire against Worcestershire at Scarborough this week before travelling to Derby for their final T20 group game at Derby on Friday.
