HUDDERSFIELD Town defender Tom Clarke has signed a new one-year contract that will keep him at Town until summer 2013.
Clarke, from Halifax, said: “It is a great to have signed the extension and I am glad to have got everything sorted quickly.
“It is going to be a tough season and we need two or three players in each position to make sure that everyone is fighting and playing at the top of their game.”
The versatile defender played a key role for Town towards the latter stages of last season and received praise during the campaign from Manager Simon Grayson for his ability to play well out of position.
Versatile Clarke, at home in defence or midfield, has made 110 appearances and scored three goals since signing his first professional contract with the club in January 2005.
Terriers boss Simon Grayson said: “His ability to play in a variety of positions, to a high standard, is invaluable.
“He is a local lad and someone that has done his club proud. Myself and the coaching staff were very impressed by his performances during the latter stages of last season.”
