WAKEFIELD FC may be ground-sharing with Ossett Town this season but that didn’t stop them inflicting a 4-1 victory on their Stade France partners on Monday.

Tom Denton led the way with a brace as Steve Nicholson’s men continued their encouraging start to the new Evo-Stik Division 1 North campaign.

Former Huddersfield Town man Denton opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Nathan Joynes levelled for Town, who were down as the away team, with a 45th-minute penalty.

Danny South put the Bears back ahead just before the hour mark before Denton netted his second ten minutes later and Daniel Sheriffe put the scoreline beyond doubt with 15 minutes to go.

The victory moves Wakefield up to fifth in the league table, while Town sit in ninth.

Across the town at Dimple Wells, Ossett Albion recorded their first league win of the season with a 3-0 success against Durham City.

Richard Tracey was the hero with a hat-trick, one being from the spot.
