Denton double gives Wakefield FC point at Warrington

A BRACE of Tom Denton penalties gave Wakefield FC a share of the spoils in a four-goal thriller at Warrington Town in Division 1 North of the Evo-Stik Premier League on Tuesday night.

The lanky hitman put the Bears 2-1 to the good and Steve Nicholson, the Wakefield manager, may see the contest as two points dropped rather than one gained after Warrington snatched a late equaliser.

Former Huddersfield Town man Denton fired the visitors in front from the spot after 15 minutes before Anthony Hickey levelled for Town, also from the spot.

Denton netted his second spot-kick just after the half-hour mark to fire the Stade France club ahead.

It looked to be enough to secure all three points but Jamie Henders hit an 88th-minute leveller for Warrington.

The draw leaves Wakefield 12th in the league table ahead of this weekend’s ground-sharing derby clash against Ossett Town.
