WAKEFIELD youngster Duane Holmes was on target as Huddersfield Town U18s defeated Hartlepool United 3-0 to reach the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup yesterday, Tuesday.
Town’s starlets eased to victory thanks to three first-half goals and they will now be in Friday’s draw for the next round of the competition.
Seventeen-year-old Holmes, a second-year scholar with the Terriers, is the U18s’ top scorer this season and the midfielder added to his tally with a 42nd minute strike at Victoria Park.
Kedesh Goddard and Joe Wilkinson had put Town 2-0 up inside 30 minutes and the 20-yard strike from Holmes capped another impressive individual performance in which he cleared off his own line and hit the crossbar.
