HUDDERSFIELD Town are just one step away from promotion to the npower Championship following a thrilling win over Bournemouth in the play-off semi-finals last night, Wednesday.

There has been little between the Terriers and the Cherries all year and predictably it took penalties to decide which team would appear in the League One play-off final at Old Trafford on Sunday, May 29.

Following a 1-1 stalemate in Bournemouth last Saturday, the contest remained in the balance going into the second leg at the Galpharm Stadium.

Lee Peltier’s opener was cancelled out by Steve Lovell’s penalty but Danny Ward restored Town’s lead before the break.

Lovell’s second goal forced extra time, in which Danny Ings headed the visitors ahead but Antony Kay restored parity just before the end of the first period of extra time.

Cherries’ Liam Feeney and Anton Robinson both missed their spot-kicks in the shoot-out and Kay held his nerve to score the decisive penalty that sparked jubilant celebrations.
