LEEDS United manager Simon Grayson has welcomed the first round draw of the Carling Cup, which has paired his side with their West Yorkshire neighbours Bradford City.
The first round tie will take place at Elland Road, probably on Tuesday, August 9.
“It’s a great draw for both sides,” said Grayson.
“I’m good friends with Peter Jackson who’s just got the job at Bradford and I would think he will be pleased.
“There’s the local rivalry aspect and it’s a good game to have during the first week of the season.
“Any game at that stage of the season, whether it’s high profile or low profile, is good for the players because they are building relationships and need to play games.
“It should also attract a decent crowd with a good atmosphere so it’s a game we’ll be looking forward to.”
