LEEDS United manager Simon Grayson was not getting carried away after seeing his side record their second successive away win to move into fifth place in the Npower Championship.

The Whites boss conceded that the Leeds team had not been at their most fluent in coming from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 in front of the BBC cameras.

After trailing to an early Jay Rodriguez header, United were rescued by two goals in the last 14 minutes from winger Robert Snodgrass, the winner coming just a minute from the end of normal time.

The victory owed much to a good rearguard action in the first half and a couple of excellent saves by on-loan keeper Alex McCarthy. But the game could have been different had referee Scott Mathieson and his assistants not somehow missed a blatant handball outside the box by home keeper Lee Grant as he saved a goalbound effort from Ross McCormack.

Manager Grayson was happy enough to bring home the points, if the performance was not completely to his liking.

He said: “We were lucky to still be in the game at half-time and our keeper made one or two good saves.

“Burnley dominated us in the first half, but we said at half-time that we needed to up the tempo.

“Once we got the equaliser, I felt we could go on and win the game because we had the presence of the Leeds fans trying to suck the ball into the net.”

Grayson praised his wide men, two-goal Snodgrass and the recalled Lloyd Sam, who came in on the left flank with Danny Pugh injured and set up the first Leeds goal.

He added: “They are what you want from all the players in your team. Lloyd Sam came into the team and did very well as did Snodgrass.

“They worked extremely hard for the team, they put some good balls into the box and worked the shape of the team well. I am delighted for the two wide players.

“What they have got as well is the other side of the game where they can influence and create chances for the team.”
