Tuesday proved to be a day to remember for new Ossett Town signing Rob Bordman.
The birth of his first child, Matilda, in the afternoon, came only a few hours before Bordman played his debut for Town in a pre-season friendly against Bradford City.
If that wasn’t memorable enough, the former Wakefield FC striker then inspired Town to a terrific 2-0 win over the Bantams with a sensational long-range free-kick that opened the scoring in front of a big crowd at Ingfield.
Fellow debutant Luke Blackburn added a second nine minutes from time to secure a morale-boosting pre-season win for the hosts.
With Bordman’s job on the pitch well and truly done, Ossett manager John Reed substituted the striker to allow him to go home early and spend time with his wife Dani and newly-arrived daughter.
The Town marksman took to Twitter to dedicate the goal to his daughter, posting: “That ones for you Matilda (Tilly) Bordman”
