OSSETT Town issued the perfect response to their 6-0 home defeat against Skelmersdale at the weekend by beating Trafford 2-0 at Stade France on Tuesday night.

Eric Gilchrist’s men had to wait until the 77th minute to find the breakthrough against their visitors when Danny Toronczak found the back of the net.

And a Paul Ashton own goal with two minutes to go made sure of Town’s crucial Evo-Stik Division 1 North victory. It brought an end to a ten-game winless streak and lifted Town eleven points above the relegation zone.

Ossett Albion failed to make it a win double in Ossett last night as they suffered a late 3-2 home defeat against Woodley Sports at the Warehouse Systems Stadium.

A Joe Fox penalty and Richard Tracey goal saw the hosts come from a goal down to lead. But Jordan Stepien levelled for the visitors and then helped them snatch victory with a last-gasp winner.

Albion’s reserve side also fell to defeat when they crashed out of the Eastern Section Final of the Lancashire League Cup with a 2-0 defeat at Harrogate Railway Athletic.
