OSSETT Town will target progression in the FA Carlsberg Trophy at the second time of asking tonight when they host Stocksbridge Park Steels in a first qualifying round replay (kick-off 7.45pm).
Phil Sharpe’s men came from behind to earn a creditable draw against their higher-division opponents on Saturday and grab a second bite of the cherry.
Richard Stirrup and Jack Muldoon had fired Evo-Stik Premier Division Steels into a 2-0 lead before Neil Towler pulled a goal back for the visitors and Kevin Sanasy grabbed a dramatic last-minute leveller.
Town will go into tonight’s clash in confident mood and with home advantage as they look to book a date in the second qualifying round and collect a welcome £2,200 in prize money along the way.
The draw for the next round has already taken place and the winner of tonight’s match at Stade France will host Evo-Stik South side Evesham on Saturday, November 5 (kick-off 3pm).
Town were scheduled to be hosting Curzon Ashton in the league tonight but the match will be rearranged to allow the FA Trophy clash to be concluded.
Wakefield FC will make the short trip to Garforth Town in Division 1 North (kick-off 7.45pm).
